This series consists of materials gathered and maintained by Morrison B. Williams for an unfinished biography of his father, Aubrey W. Williams. Most of the material dates from Aubrey Williams’ lifetime, with annotations, notes and research content added by Morrison B. Williams. The series includes personal and professional correspondence, memoranda, reports, speech drafts, editorials, printed materials, routine financial records, photographs, and autobiographical and biographical chapter drafts. Materials substantively document Aubrey Williams work with the Works Progress Administration, the Southern Conference Educational Fund, the National Farmers Union, the Committee to Abolish the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) and Peace Farm. Included are Aubrey Williams; personal reminiscences about his career, advocacy, social justice work, and political philosophy. Notable correspondents represented in the series include Eleanor Roosevelt, Clifford Durr, President Lyndon Johnson, and Claudia “Lady Bird” Johnson.
